Meet the founder
I founded Eme y Jota in 2020, based in San José, Costa Rica, with the aim of creating garments that make you feel amazing, providing that extra push we all need at times. It’s easy to say, but much harder to achieve, especially in today’s challenging reality where everyone has their own definition of what feeling good means. As a creative, I constantly seek change, new beginnings, and ethical, transparent processes, all of which are core values of my brand.
Although I am the designer and owner, Eme y Jota is a brand that relies on the hard work of many local workers, and it wouldn’t exist without their effort. I urge you to keep this in mind when considering purchasing any of our pieces. Each garment is the result of a long and demanding creative process, and we take great care to ensure its quality and craftsmanship.
Even though Eme y Jota was created only 2 years ago, I have been building this brand for over 10 years. My journey has been full of ups and downs, self-doubt, and a lot of patience-testing moments. However, I’ve also had many incredible experiences and projects that have motivated me to keep going. Looking back at old pictures from my school days reminds me of how far I’ve come.
In a small business, every little achievement feels like a huge step, and the opportunity for you to see, follow, know my story, and buy my work makes everything worth it.
